New pricing will take effect on 10 April, 2023
We’re writing to let you know that Stripe fees for businesses based in Europe will be changing on 10 April, 2023. We wanted to provide information on this pricing update and let you know about ways you can lower payment costs.
Starting 10 April, 2023, fees for card processing and disputes will be higher due to increases in network costs (in recent years, major card networks have introduced several new fees and increased existing fees), as well as increases in underlying service costs.
Transaction fees for cards will be broken out into multiple regional prices:
Standard European cards (most cards including American Express) will change from 1.4% + €0.25 to 1.5% + €0.25.
Premium European cards (commercial Visa/Mastercard) will change from 1.4% + €0.25 to 1.9% + €0.25.
International cards issued outside of Europe and the UK will change from 2.9% + €0.25 to 3.25% + €0.25.
UK cards will remain the same at 2.5% + €0.25.
Dispute fees will change from €15 to €20. Due to costs for managing dispute evidence submissions, we’ll no longer refund this fee if the customer’s bank resolves the dispute in your favor.

How can I reduce card processing costs?
We built Link, Stripe’s one-click checkout, to help you increase conversion and reduce card processing costs. Link autofills payment details across hundreds of thousands of websites. You can process card payments using Link starting at 1.2% + €0.25 per transaction.
What are other lower cost payment alternatives?
You can now turn on lower cost payment methods through Checkout or the Payment Element without additional engineering work.
Bank transfers, commonly used for large, one-off transactions (0.5% per transaction, capped at €5.00).
SEPA Direct Debit, commonly used for recurring payments (€0.35 per transaction).
